Nokia Intros Mobile Podcasting

Nokia has officially introduced the beta release of the Nokia Podcasting Application, designed to make it easy to discover and download podcasting content on the go. nokia_podcasting_app.jpg Available for the Nokia N91 and other Nokia S60 3rd edition devices, the lets users find and download supported audio and video podcasts directly to Nokia Nseries phones. "Podcasting is a rapidly growing communications medium with more and more people accessing and creating them every day. Many news agencies, for instance, already offer podcasts on a wide range of topics," says Tommi Mustonen, Director, Multimedia, Nokia. "We're adding our support by creating a mobile application that makes it easy to discover and search for podcasts, download podcasts over the air, and subscribe to automatic updates."

TiVo.jpgTiVo has released a new version of its TiVo Desktop application for Windows, which lets users transfer recorded television programs from the set-top box to their computers and portable devices. TiVo also released a premium version of the software, called TiVo Desktop Plus, which lets user stransfer content to Apple's iPod, Sony's PSP, Treo and Nokia phones, along with other portable devices that support MPEG-4 or H.264 video. The Plus version is priced at $24.95 USD.

The site is designed to provide PSP users easy access to podcasts. The frustrating aspect about using a PSP as a media device for podcasts until now has been the difficulty in locating podcasts using websites not suitably designed for use on a PSP , says John McClumpha, Technical Director of The PodLounge, There s nothing worse than navigating through a site that is twice the width of your screen .

CNN_logo.gif CNN has expanded its podcast offerings into video podcasts, launching six free CNN video podcasts that can be viewed online or downloaded to portable media players. The podcasts join several audio podcasts that CNN offers, including an hourly News Update and a twice-daily Business Update.
