Singapore Opposition Party Ignores Country's Ban on Political

200px-Chee_Soon_Juan.jpgSingapore Democratic Party (SDP) chief Chee Soon Juan has violated Singapore's ban on political podcasting by uploading to his party's web site a speech criticising the People's Action Party (PAP) for "going all out to crush the SDP". In the five-minute audio recording entitled, "Chee Podcast: Show Singaporeans You're Really First World, Debate SDP", Dr Chee accuses the Government of trying to shut down the SDP and challenged Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to a public debate to "demonstrate the PAP's First-Worldness". The Singapore Democrats have been ordered to remove their podcasts, including Dr Chee Soon Juan's address. The Government "bans podcasting, knowing full well that we had set up our podcast last year specifically so that we can better reach out to voters in this election," states Dr Chee Soon Juan.
