Is Creative Zencast Hijacking
Creative Technology today announced ZenCast, a new site and application for accessing, creating and transferring thousands of audio and video blogs for select Creative Zen MP3 players. The ZenCast home page provides a directory of podcasts on a variety of topics.
The directory is generating controversy in the podcasting community because it appears to be republishing podcaster's news feeds with a Zencast URL. Republishing a podcast feed, called podcast hijacking by some in the podcasting community, is controversial because it can create confusion about the ownership of copyrighted content, it can make it difficult or impossible for podcasters to know how many people are using their podcast feed, and it can create problems for users if they subscribe to the feed at the duplicate address and the original feed is moved or changed.
