USA Today Schizophrenic On

Commentary usa_today.jpgUSA Today's coverage of podcasting seems to be increasingly superficial and schizophrenic, which is unfortunate for podcasters and the large number of Americans that are interested in podcasting. Last year, they declared that podcasting had gone from indie to mainstream overnight (it's hot!). A few weeks later, they warned that storm clouds were gathering over podcasting (it's not so hot!). A few weeks later, they declared that "Podcasts may be altering the radio landscape." (It's hot again!) Sunday, they ran an article reporting that podcasting is shaking up local media, putting radio stations on notice that they were in danger of being eliminated. (it's super hot!) Just four days later, USA Today's Andrew Kantor announced that "Podcasting isn't made for most people." (It's so totally not hot anymore!) Is it any wonder that many people are confused about podcasting, when USA Today seems to have no coherent vision of what's going on with the technology?
